5 Hottest Female Mixed Martial Artists
By James Lawrence
I just returned to Las Vegas after a short two day trip to Santa Barbara. It was interesting to say the least: the sun, the beach, the ocean, the MMA discussion. Yes, that’s right! I get away from the heat of the desert but can’t get away from MMA. I was at a bar at the beach when a few patrons began discussing everything MMA. The discussion went from UFC, to Strikeforce, to DREAM, and then moved into female mixed martial artists. The debate about the legitimacy of female MMA transitioned to where it always goes: Who is the hottest female mixed martial artist around? Everyone I was speaking with knew Gina Carano and thought she was the hottest. (Of course the men I was speaking with only knew Gina and “Cyborg” Santos.) I rattled off a few other female mixed martial artists that I knew and pulled up some pictures on my Blackberry web application to show them. At the risk of getting my ass kicked by the following ladies, these choices are in no particular order.
Elena Reid
Elena Reid is a professional boxer and mixed martial artist. She is a former WIBA and IFBA Flyweight Champion. She’s a tough fighter who we profiled earlier this year.
Kyra Gracie
Although not a professional mixed martial artist Kyra is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt and a multiple title holder in BJJ. Her titles include:
- 3x World BJJ Champion (2004,2006,2008)
- 5x Pan American BJJ Games Champion (2001, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2007)
- 5x Brazilian BJJ Champion (1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2004)
- 5x New York State BJJ Champion (1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002)
- 2x ADCC Submission Wrestling World Champion (2005, 2007)
- 1x Asiatic BJJ Champion (2006)
Erin Toughill
Erin is a professional mixed martial artist and a boxer. She also competed as “Steel” on the second season of American Gladiators.
Gina Carano
Gina is definitely the most popular woman in mixed martial arts today. She has appeared on American Gladiators, in video games, and most recently in Maxim magazine.
Michelle Waterson
Michelle is one of my personal favorites. (Notice I said one and not my only favorite.) Michelle holds a black belt in karate, fights in MMA, trains in wushu and muay thai.
